What This Add-On Does
The Handwriting Trace service covers the extra design work required when your handwriting sample isn't camera-ready. We digitally trace every loop and curve by hand — removing ruled lines, repairing tears or fading, and cleaning up smudges — so the final engraving faithfully captures the original.

When Do I Need This Add-On?
Add this fee to your order if your handwriting sample is on any of the following:
- Lined notebook or journal paper
- Graph or grid paper
- Old, yellowed, or water-damaged documents
- Torn or creased paper with marks through the writing
- Faded pencil writing or low-contrast ink
If your sample is on plain white paper and clearly legible, you likely don't need this add-on. Not sure? Email us a photo and we'll tell you right away.
How to Order
- Add your engravable item to your cart (from our Jewelry collection or anywhere in the store).
- Add this Handwriting Trace Add-On Fee to the same cart.
- After checkout, email your handwriting sample to breann@theburnshack.com with your order number.
- We'll send a digital proof for your approval before any engraving begins.
Include in your email: which item the trace is for, whose handwriting it is, and any specific instructions (e.g. "use just the signature, not the full letter").
Turnaround Time
Most orders are completed within 14 days from the date we receive and approve your handwriting sample. We'll always keep you updated. A digital proof is sent before engraving begins — please respond promptly to keep your order on schedule.

No — a clear photo or scan is all we need. We never ask you to mail irreplaceable originals.
What file format should I send?
JPG, PNG, or PDF at the highest resolution you have. The clearer the image, the better the trace.
Can you trace a child's handwriting or drawing?
Yes — children's handwriting, drawings, and fingerprint art can often be traced. Contact us first to confirm your sample is feasible.
Is this a standalone product?
This is an add-on fee only. It must be purchased alongside an engravable item from our store.
Will I see a proof before it's engraved?
Always. We send a digital proof of the traced design for your approval before engraving begins.
