Instructions:
-
Prepare your item: Lay your item (hat, bag, jacket, etc.) flat on the ironing board. Make sure the area where you want to apply the patch is smooth and wrinkle-free.
-
Position the patch: Place the leather patch on your item exactly where you want it.
-
Protect the patch: Cover the patch with a thin cloth or pressing cloth. This will prevent the iron from directly touching and potentially damaging the leather.
-
Iron settings: Set your iron to a medium-high setting with NO STEAM. Leather can be damaged by steam.
-
Pre-heat: Pre heat the item you are adding your patch to by putting your cloth over top of the item and pressing for about 10 seconds. This will help the adhesive on the back of the patch to warm up quickly when you're ready to press.
-
Apply heat: Press the iron firmly onto the cloth-covered patch. Apply even pressure and hold for 15-20 seconds.
-
Repeat if necessary!
-
Cool down: Allow the patch and the item to cool completely before handling. This will allow the Hydbond adhesive to set properly.
Important Notes:
- Don't slide the iron: Lift and press the iron, rather than sliding it back and forth, to avoid shifting the patch.
- Avoid ironing on delicate fabrics: Be cautious when applying patches to delicate fabrics like silk or lace.
- For best results: If you're applying a patch to a heavy-duty item or want extra security, you can sew around the edges of the patch after ironing.
- For double stacked patches: take them apart and iron on the base patch first, then place the top piece on and iron again.
Care Instructions:
- Do not machine wash the item with the patch.
- If cleaning is necessary, spot clean the area around the patch with a damp cloth.
By following these instructions, you can easily apply your leather patches and enjoy a personalized look that lasts!
