Custom Laser Engraved Cattle Tags — Livestock ID, Bag Tags & Beyond
The Last Tag You'll Ever Need to Replace
Most tags fade, crack, or get scratched into illegibility. Ours don't. The Burn Shack uses a fiber laser to permanently engrave every cattle tag we sell — burning your text directly into the tag material at a molecular level. No ink. No paint. No coating that peels. Just a crisp, permanent mark that outlasts years of rain, mud, UV exposure, and daily handling.
Cattle Tags - 100% USA MADE!
Our tags are manufactured in Nebraska specifically for fiber laser customization — not generic blanks repurposed from somewhere else. They're built to the tolerances that make laser engraving clean, consistent, and permanent every single time. And we personalize them right here in Denair, California.

For the Ranch — Livestock Identification That Actually Lasts
Cattle ear tags take abuse. Sun, rain, mud, friction — a tag that fades or cracks isn't just inconvenient, it's a liability when you're trying to track animals across a herd. Our fiber laser engraved tags solve that problem for good.
You can engrave any combination of: animal ID numbers, herd codes, ranch name, brand, phone number, or custom symbols. The engraving is permanent — readable years after application without fading, smearing, or peeling. Whether you're managing ten head or a thousand, these tags hold up.
Works for: cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and other livestock that use standard ear tag sizes.

4-H & FFA Show Animals — Custom Tags for the County Fair
If your kid is showing an animal at the Stanislaus County Fair, Merced County Fair, Tulare County Fair, or the California State Fair, they need ID tags. Most families settle for whatever generic tag comes in the entry packet — or worse, write on one with a marker that fades before judging day.
Our custom laser engraved cattle tags are a go-to for 4-H and FFA exhibitors across the Central Valley. The engraving is permanent, clean, and reads clearly from a distance across the show ring. Tags are available in multiple colors, which is handy when you're showing more than one animal in different classes — color-code them and tell your animals apart at a glance.
Popular things to engrave for show animals:
- Animal name
- Exhibitor's name
- Class or lot number
- Club or FFA chapter name
- Year of the show
- County or fair name
And when the fair is over, a custom engraved tag makes a meaningful keepsake. A lot of 4-H families hold onto theirs long after the animal is gone — the tag tells the story of the project, the year, and the kid who raised it.
We're local to the 209 and we know how fast fair season sneaks up. Order early — we want to make sure your tags are ready and in hand before check-in day.

Beyond the Ranch — The Toughest Bag Tag You've Never Thought Of
Here's a secret: the same properties that make these tags survive on a cow's ear for years make them perfect for everyday carry. Ranchers started using spares on their gear and realized they'd accidentally built the best bag tag on the market.

Unlike paper luggage tags that dissolve in the first rainstorm, or plastic tags that crack after a few trips through baggage claim, a laser engraved cattle tag is essentially indestructible. Engrave your name, phone number, address, or a custom design — it'll be readable when everything else has given up.
Perfect for:
- Sports bags & gym bags — never lose your bag at a tournament again. Engraved name + number, attached to the zipper pull.
- Luggage & travel bags — survives every airline baggage system on earth. Way more durable than anything you'll find at an airport gift shop.
- Backpacks & school bags — especially good for kids. Engrave a name and a parent's phone number. It doesn't come off.
- Range bags & gear bags — popular with hunters, shooters, and outdoors people who need a tag that doesn't quit.
- Work bags & tool cases — trades, construction, field work. If your bag goes somewhere rough, this tag goes with it.
- Keychains — add your cattle tag to a keychain ring and carry your contact info wherever your keys go.

Why Fiber Laser — Not Printed, Not Stamped, Not Painted
There are cheaper ways to put a name on a tag. We don't use them.
A fiber laser operates at a wavelength that interacts specifically with metals and hard plastics, converting the surface at a molecular level rather than just marking the top of it. The result is a mark that is technically part of the material — not sitting on top of it. You cannot wash it off, scratch it off, or fade it in the sun because there's nothing to remove. The material itself changed.
Printed tags look fine at first. After six months on a fence line or six flights through O'Hare, they look like nothing. A fiber laser engraved tag looks the same on day one as it does on day one thousand.
Nebraska Manufactured — Built for This
Our cattle tags are manufactured in Nebraska by a supplier that builds specifically for laser customization. That matters because not all blank tags laser the same way. Off-brand blanks can produce inconsistent depth, blowout on fine text, or uneven color contrast. Tags engineered for fiber laser engraving have consistent material composition, surface prep, and thickness tolerances that give us a clean, readable mark every single time — whether it's a four-digit herd number or a full name and phone number.
When you order from The Burn Shack, the tag itself is quality before we ever touch it with the laser.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I put on a custom cattle tag?
Anything that fits — animal ID numbers, herd codes, ranch or brand name, phone number, address, a logo, initials, or any combination. We can engrave both sides. Just include your text or artwork when you order and we'll handle the layout.
How permanent is fiber laser engraving on a cattle tag?
Effectively permanent. The engraving is a physical change to the material surface — not ink, paint, or coating. It does not fade from UV exposure, wash off in rain or mud, or scratch off with normal handling. It will outlast the tag itself.
Can I use these as luggage tags or bag tags?
Absolutely — it's one of the most popular uses. Attach to a zipper pull, D-ring, or handle with the hole or a split ring. They're more durable than any commercial luggage tag on the market and cost a fraction of the price.
Are these good for 4-H and FFA show animals?
Yes — this is a very popular use. We engrave animal names, exhibitor names, class numbers, club names, and fair years for exhibitors across the Central Valley. Tags come in multiple colors for easy class identification. Order early before fair season — we want to make sure you have them in hand before check-in day. What's the difference between a printed cattle tag and a laser engraved one?
A printed tag has ink or paint sitting on the surface. Sun, abrasion, and moisture break that down over time. A laser engraved tag has no coating — the mark is the material itself. There's nothing to degrade.
Do these work for animals other than cattle?
Yes. Standard ear tag sizing works for goats, sheep, pigs, and many other livestock. If you're tagging horses or need a non-standard size, reach out and we'll figure out the right fit.
How long does it take?
Most orders ship within 3–5 business days. Bulk livestock orders (50+ tags) may run 5–7 days. Local pickup available in Denair.
How much does it cost?
Individual tags start at $7. Keychain versions start at $6. Volume discounts available for ranch and fair orders — contact us for bulk pricing.
Can I order in bulk for a full herd?
Yes. We do bulk livestock ID runs regularly. Fill out our custom order form with your quantity, numbering sequence, and any other details and we'll get back to you with a quote and timeline.
