Graduation Yard Sign Ideas for the Class of 2026: A Central Valley Family Guide
Graduation week is here — and across the 209, families are making the front-yard sign the new senior banner.
What started during COVID, when in-person ceremonies were on hold and parents wanted neighbors to know their senior made it, has stuck. Walk through Denair, Turlock, Modesto, or Oakdale in late May and you’ll see them: cap-and-gown photos, school colors, the year 2026 in big block type, planted on the front lawn for the world to see.
If you’re a parent (or grandparent, aunt, neighbor, or proud booster) ordering one for your senior, here’s everything we’ve learned about what makes a great graduation yard sign — and what to ask for when you call us.
Why Families Have Made Yard Signs the New Senior Banner
Three things changed:
Senior photos got better. The DSLR + smartphone era means almost every senior has a clean cap-and-gown headshot worth printing big.
Coroplast got cheap. The same corrugated-plastic material used for political campaigns is now affordable enough for a one-off family order.
UV printing went full color. Local shops like ours can now print photo-quality artwork in full color, weatherproof, on demand. No mass-production minimums.
The result: a sign that costs less than a dinner out, lasts long enough to take photos in front of for years, and announces to the neighborhood that your senior made it.
What Makes a Great Graduation Yard Sign
We’ve printed hundreds. Here’s what separates the ones that get photographed and shared from the ones that fade into the lawn:
1. One clear focal point
The best signs have a single hero element — usually the senior’s photo or their name in big type. Everything else (school name, year, future plans) supports it. Crowded signs read like a flyer; clean signs read like a yearbook page.
2. Real school colors
Denair Coyote red, Turlock High blue, Pitman Pride green, Modesto Pirate red, Ceres Bulldog purple, Hughson Husky maroon, Oakdale Mustang blue, Atwater Falcon red, Buhach Colony Thunder green. The school colors do a lot of the visual work — lean into them.
3. Big, readable type
Yard signs are read from 20+ feet away by people driving past. Your senior’s name should be readable from across the street. "CLASS OF 2026" should be readable from down the block.
4. Photo printed in real color (not faded)
This is where cheap online printers fall short — their photo quality is mediocre and outdoor UV exposure fades them in weeks. We UV-print directly onto coroplast with inks rated for outdoor durability, so a sign planted today still looks sharp at graduation weekend, on grad-party day, and through the summer photo ops.
5. Weatherproof material
Coroplast (the corrugated plastic we use) shrugs off the sprinklers, the early-summer afternoon thunderstorm, and the 105° Central Valley sun. Don’t order on cardboard.
Graduation Yard Sign Ideas by Central Valley School
What we see most often, by school:
Denair High School
Coyote red and white. Photo of the senior on the left, "Congrats, [name]!" with the Coyote logo on the right. Optional: "Denair High Class of 2026" along the top, "Future [college/major]" along the bottom. Picked up locally from our Denair studio, ready same-day.

Turlock High & Pitman High
Turlock blue and gold, or Pitman green and white. The two-school photo treatment works great here — senior in cap and gown plus a baby/early childhood photo, captioned "From the first day to the last." Pitman families love a side-by-side with the school's logo.

Modesto High, Davis, Beyer, Downey, Modesto Christian & MJC
Modesto City Schools graduates a lot of seniors — we run extra bulk orders in May for senior moms' groups and PTAs. Most popular layout: senior photo center, school name and colors in the background, year in bold. Modesto Junior College grads often add their transfer school logo (Stanislaus State, CSU, UC, etc.) along the bottom.
Ceres High & Central Valley High
Ceres Bulldog purple or CVH gold. Photo + name + school mascot is the standard. We see a lot of "Future [trade school / military / college]" tags along the bottom — a Ceres tradition we love printing.

Hughson High
Maroon and gold Husky pride. We’ve printed dozens for Hughson High families — the Walnut Capital takes its graduation yard signs seriously. Most popular: senior photo, name, "HHS Class of 2026," and a small Husky logo. Bulk orders from booster moms also welcome.

Oakdale High
Mustang blue and gold. Cowboy Capital seniors lean into the heritage — we've printed signs with the Mustang logo, the rodeo arena, and even a hand-lettered "Saddle Up, 2026" treatment. Western-themed senior photos look incredible at 24" x 18".
Atwater High & Buhach Colony High
Atwater Falcon red and Buhach Colony Thunder green. Atwater High's military tradition shows up here — we print a lot of signs for seniors heading into the Air Force, Navy, or Marines, with branch logos along the bottom. Buhach Colony families lean toward the Thunder mascot and a college-future tag.
Hilmar High & Merced-area Schools
Hilmar Yellowjackets, Merced High Bears, and Livingston Wolves — we serve Merced County families too. Hilmar Yellowjacket green and gold designs are a Burn Shack specialty, and we can build a sign in any school's colors with your senior's photo and any future plans you want featured.

Charter, private & homeschool seniors
We treat these the same as the big-school orders — just send your school name and colors. We've printed for Big Valley Christian, Modesto Christian, Sherwood Christian, Central Catholic, and a dozen homeschool families this year alone.
Personalization Options
Beyond the basics, here’s what we can add:
Senior photo: Cap-and-gown, casual portrait, sports/activity shot, throwback baby photo. We accept JPG/PNG — phone photos work, professional photos look even better.
Name in script or block: Script is timeless, block is bolder.
School name + logo: We've got most Central Valley high school logos on file — if not, send us one and we'll work it in.
Class year: "Class of 2026" or just "'26" — both look great.
Future plans: "Future Air Force," "UC Davis Bound," "Heading to Stan State," "Class of 2026 → [Trade/Military/College]." Adds a nice forward-looking element.
Multiple seniors: Got twins or two seniors in the same year? We can do a split design or a matched pair.
Color scheme: School colors are standard, but we can also match your senior’s personal favorites or sports-team colors.
Sizes & Specs
We print on heavyweight coroplast (corrugated plastic) — the same material used by political campaigns and pro real estate teams. It’s rigid, lightweight, weatherproof, and survives a Central Valley summer without warping or fading.
18″ x 12″ — the classic graduation yard sign size. Fits a senior photo + name + school + year comfortably.
24″ x 18″ — the upgraded size. Great if you want a larger photo or want the sign visible from further away.
Custom sizes — available on request for unique placements (porch banners, fence-mounted displays, etc.).
Every sign comes with a heavy-duty H-stake included, so you can plant it in the lawn in 30 seconds. (Need A-frame stands instead? We can source those on request.)
Printing is single-sided by default; double-sided is a $5 upgrade per sign. For yard signs facing a corner or visible from two streets, double-sided is worth it.
Timing for Graduation Week
Most Central Valley high schools graduate in late May or the first week of June. We've held production schedules open through the first weekend of June to handle last-minute orders.
If you need a sign this week: Email or stop by our Denair studio with your senior's photo and basic details (name, school, year, school colors, any future plans you want included). Same-day proofing, next-day pickup is realistic for orders placed before noon.
If you're planning a grad party: Order signs 7–10 days out. We'll deliver to the party venue (or your front yard) the morning of.
For booster clubs / senior moms' groups doing bulk orders: Send us the list of seniors with photos and we'll batch-produce all the signs together. Bulk pricing kicks in at 10 signs and gets better at 25+.
